Berserk

No story here – just thought I would show you my doggie, Theo, at his most berserk.

It was very hot last weekend, so we filled the dog’s little bathtub so he could stay cool while we were working in the yard.

First, Theo stepped into the tub and got wet.

Then he scooted under the weeping cherry tree, which is a nice secret place to be naughty. He managed to dig a sizable hole before I realized what he was doing, and dragged him out.

Then Theo jumped back – all muddy – into the tub.

Here’s what followed:

    • Ha! You’d think he was trying to dig his way out – except that he could step right out… he does that enough when we are trying to give him a bath!

      • Duncan can’t get enough water. He LOVES the hose! Unless I squirt him while scolding him …

    • Theo is a Lagotto Romagnolo – an ancient Italian breed that is the ancestor to the Standard Poodle and Portuguese and Spanish Water Dogs. Lagottos are relatively small – he’s about full grown at 11 months and 37 pounds. They are popular in Europe because they are great truffle hunters. But they are still fairly rare in the US – although they will probably grow in popularity because they were shown this year at Westminster for the first time.

  10. Aw, bless! Two theories……… 1) he was making sure he got all his underparts and feet clean, and 2) he was trying to dig his way out of the water. Either/or, really funny.

    • He is a natural-born digger. That’s why Lagottos are great at truffle-hunting. (that and their huge nose!)

    • I guess not! Once the digging gene kicked in, he had to let it go!

  13. Cute video! I was going to comment to ask if you filled it with clean water for him to have a rinse. But I saw your reply to someone else’s comment saying that he was pretty clean when he came out of the tub!

    • He didn’t seem to need a rinse – he left it all in the tub! (But we did change the water, because he went back in later in the day.

  14. Our doggie runs away whenever you turn on a hose or a faucet. He does not like water. We have to sponge bathe him.

    • Our guy seems to love water, but not baths. Or rain… he doesn’t particularly like to step on the wet grass, so he’d rather poop on the driveway in poor weather.
