We were so lucky to grow up with such a wonderful mother and father, and we are lucky now to still have her. One of my favorite pieces of advice from her is that housework takes a second place to doing something you enjoy. She always followed that rule (as do I). So many summer afternoons she would take us to Rockwell Park or Lake Compounce,, saying “the chores aren’t going anywhere; the dirt will still be here when I am ready to clean.”

I loved those spontaneous trips to the park. And I love a clean house, but I love having fun more…. so I think I’ve got my priorities straight!

I just returned from visiting Mom. She was very happy to see us, but didn’t want to miss the golf on TV, either!

She’s the happiest, smartest person I know. My husband was just wondering the other day about the reason for her longevity, and I said that I believed that it is because, right to her core, she is a happy loving person.

Bless all Mums everywhere. In the UK, Mothers Day is in March, but it’s my Mum’s birthday this month, and she’ll be 93. ❤

I never want to stop laughing. She hasn’t. She was laughing in this photo because I was taking her picture and my sister asked her a question. And Mom said, “I can’t talk right now. I’m posing.” And then she laughed at herself.

What a wonderful suitcase of memories your mother is going to leave to you and your sister so that in the many years to come, you will be able to recall just how lovely she was and how much you all loved each other. Happy Mother’s Day.

I can almost hear her laughing in that photo. It is great. My grandmother had a wonderful laugh. My mother, not. My daughter inherited it, though. I love to hear her laugh. It’s amazing to me that something like a laugh could be inherited. Do you have your mom’s laugh?
